Samurai warrior, Toyotomi Hideyoshi (March 17, 1537 – September 18, 1598) gained his status from humble peasant beginnings through his determination and steadfast efforts to climb the ranks and leave a legacy of significance to unification of Japan. This large and very fine rendition of Samurai Toyotomi Hideyoshi- unifier and ruler of Japan is made of resin and is an exquisite acquisition for all collectors of Japanese Culture which epitomizes the glorious armor and culture of Ancient Japan!
In life, Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a great negotiator and soon became a distinguished general to his liege lord, Oda Nubunaga, succeeding him to bring political unification to japan and although a great warrior, his other skills in arbitration and dialogue helped bring to an end the Sengoku era that changed Japanese society in many ways influencing culture and solidifying the social class system for the next 300 years! In many ways, with his unification of Japan the transition from Japan’s medieval era to an early modern era began. This brought about the control on sword ownership, the creation of a stable governmental system that balanced power, the mapping and surveying of land with taxation and a ban on slavery. He built castles and lavished in collecting and the arts which has influenced Japan’s material culture. His time in power and change was known as the Momoyama period (circa 1573 lasting thru his life).
To this day the legacy of Toyotomi Hideyoshi can be found in the numerous of Japan’s Shinto shrines dedicated in his honor and now you can honor him too!
